At the beginning of my tenure at Zones, the website had a dated product/promotion layout with a dark color palette. I immedately redesigned the homepage with a lighter color palette to bring it inline with ecommerce best practices. As the company moved away from a product oriented selling approach and put more emphasis on solutions & services, the design evolved. The latest iteration was completed in collaboration with an outside agency. I was the main point of contact with them becuase of my agency background.

Microsoft D365

As part of a migration from a legacy ordering application, Zones needed a redesign that could embed into Microsoft D365. I took all the existing functionality in the old platform, accounted for it and audited for any UX or logic improvements. I then designed a one-page order form with an emphasis on UX leveraging jQuery and we built a custom application natively within the CRM app. The end result reduced training time and user frustration, increase order accuracy and efficiency.

Data Flow

Working with an internal development group. I was called on to help lead the IA design and execution for a custom Product Information Management tool. Included in the scope of that project is a data flow manager for EDI data. Below is one screen from that application illustrating the user's ability to ingest a data file and map fields. This application also included creating schemas and running data flow jobs.

The recruiting department needed a new site to professionally represent the organization and optimize their recruiting efforts into the Jobvite application. We used the Jobvite API to build a custom requsition viewer and application portal. In addition, we used the Jobvite admin to re-skin the Jobvite portal with Zones branding.

ZonesConnect is the My Account section where returning customers make new and repeat purchases through the zones.com portal. The site drives over $1 bn in revenue for customers like Starbucks, Nordstrom, Costco, Adidas, McDonalds and more, so the sensitivity around the project was high. We re-designed every page leveraging new web technologies like asyncronous loading, jQuery and CSS3. The site launched without any show-stopping bugs and we were able to successfully make a dramatic improvement to the portal.

Armada Design & Build, a high-end general contractor in the Bellevue area approached me to redesign their existing website and optimize it for SEO. I did a competitive analysis of other websites in the area and proposed adding a robust portfolio section to generate a 10x increase in site contenta and SEO keywords. Organic traffic is the most profitable traffic for the company and it's been increasing since site launch.

They had potential plans to do ecommerce so I built this website on the Bigcommerce platform with a custom theme. The focus for this website is branded content so they can rank for specific manufacturers and geo-specific inquiries.

The site received over 1mm unique vistors a month so we recommended they stay with their current site platform for SEO reasons.

Roland DGA apprached us with the opportunity to build a world-wide contest engine. We built a custom application front-end where users submitted their artwork and a custom programmed admin where the submissions could be managed. The site was translated into 15 languages and catered to over 60 countries. We completed the entire site from concept to completion in less than a month.
